AFV Modeller May/June 2011

Always guaranteed to quicken the pulse of the German armour enthusiast volume eleven very much lives up to expectation by presenting another stunning collection of mostly unseen images of knocked out German vehicles. As ever, big pictures are the order of the day and the Panzerwrecks team manage to get the best from the images, no more so than the opening image showing an ultra-sharp image of a Panzer IV lying in a roadside ditch. There is a great walkaround sequence of a pair of Panzer IVs in a vehicle dump which offers great overall views and plenty of useful details, not least being the relatively good condition of the paint finish. Great views also of a pristine 4.7cm Pak auf Panzerkampfwagen 35R with its gun at full recoil and showing the rear ammunition racks. What looks like the same dump also provides shots of a Marder II M, waffle patterned StuG III and Sd.Kfz.l 0/4. Another section shows knocked out Porsche turret King Tigers operating with Pz.Abt.503 and there is a walkaround sequence of a Bergepanther with diamond pattern zimmerit including shots of the winch bay. striking paint schemes on both a Famo and Grille should inspire modellers as should a sequence featuring different Normandy Panthers and another with the rarely seen Puma. Also rare is the 20mm flak mounted on a French Unic Kegresse Pl07 half track. These are just a sample of the different subjects in this volume which without doubt you are going to want to have in your reference library.
