Tamiya Model Magazine June 2006

The second volume of Panzerwrecks is here, and if (like us) you like to use shots of real wartime vehicles as your modelling inspiration, you're in for a serious treat here. This modest looking production packs a real punch, with every square inch of its 100 pages being devoted to the reproduction of some fantastic, previously unpublished material, showing a very wide range of WW2 German armour in various states of destruction and abandonment. It's fair to say that there are no fillers in this book at all - every one of the 118 photographs shows something interesting, and all are reproduced large - which makes us very happy! The range of machinery on show is astonishing - way too much to catalogue here but highlights for us include Panthers A & D in a boneyard complete with posing GIs, an amazing section of shots taken in a marshalling yard near Ljubliana of Italian StuG M41s, Pz.Kpfw M42s, as well as Sd.Kfz.251/22, eight wheeled Sd.Kfz 231 and a whole heap of other types, all on railcars - mouthwatering images all crying out to be modelled! A blown-up '223 on a Berlin street, a KO'd Tiger I by the Brandenburg gate and a superb set taken at the Znojmo boneyard provide headspinning modelling ideas, and the rest of the book os, well, see for yourself, it's marvellous! Panzerwrecks 2 is one of those productions that just when you think you've seen all the good stuff, you turn the page and there's even more!

VERDICT; For pure diorama ideas and modelling inspirtation, this books represents ridiculously good value, and we can not recommend it highly enough.
