Military Miniatures in Review

The Panzerwrecks series continues to roll on and on long after we thought the well of interesting photos would run dry. Panzerwrecks 7 is much like the other volumes with lots of nice photos and informative captions, but with a twist. The source material for the previous volumes has been mostly from the Western Front. This time around, however, Lee Archer and William Auerbach have gone to great lengths to cover Eastern Front topics. Included are four feature essays: Panzer wrecks in Uman, Cut off in Chernivtsi, Turan tanks on a Train and Surrender in Kurland. Smaller one I or two page subjects are sprinkled liberally throughout. Most of the photographs are of late war vehicles after the Russians turned the tide, so you'll find lots of Tigers, Panthers, late Panzer IVs and StuGs to drool over. Perhaps he best photo essay of the whole book is the one on the Turan tank - it would be really cool to see a good rendition of this in styrene. As a bonus, there are also some nice shots of captured German vehicles pressed into Russian service.

In all, this is a wonderful addition to a great series that has provided much inspiration to armor geeks everywhere.
