Panzer Tracts No.5-3: Panzerkampfwagen Panther Ausführung G
The long-awaited revised edition of Panzer Tracts No.5-3 has been completely overhauled 22 years after the original. The page count has more than doubled, from 68 to 136, with around 90 photographs drawn from archives and private collections, many reproduced at large format for the first time.
The CAD drawings have been revised and expanded, with new coverage of the FG 1250 infra-red equipment installation, the chin Kugelblende, late steel-tyred roadwheels, and the Gleitschuh skid fitted to final production vehicles. A new interior chapter covers the Ausf.G crew compartment in full, illustrated throughout with sharp and clear factory photographs.
The Modifications chapter now documents 37 production changes, compared with the original’s more limited coverage. The Production chapter has been substantially enlarged with observed Fgst.Nr., Wanne Nr., and Turm Nr. tables by manufacturer for precise vehicle dating. A new Operational Experience chapter covers unit strengths and losses on both fronts from 1944 to the end of the war, including Panzer-Brigade operations, the Ardennes, and the combat deployment of infra-red-equipped Panthers in early 1945, a subject barely touched on in the first edition.
The exact page and photo count have yet to be finalised.
