Funklenkpanzer: A History of German Army Remote- and Radio-Controlled Armor Units
Funklenkpanzer: The History of German Army Remote- and Radio-Controlled Armor Units features 610 pages with more than 800 photographs, 32 pages of colour artwork by Jean Restayn and 76 pages of organigrams by Waldemar Trojca.
This book is to the radio- and remote-controlled units as the Combat History of the schwere Panzerjäger-Abteilung 653 book was to the Elefant and the Ferdinand. An absolute must for the discriminating armour fan – most of the photos have never been published before. In addition to exciting operational photos of the demolition-charge carriers and the mine-clearing vehicles, there are hundreds of great shots of the command and control vehicles: the kleiner Panzerbefehlswagen, the Leitpanzer III, the Sturmgeschütz III and the Tiger.
Short histories of all the remote- and radio-controlled units are presented, as well as some other armoured formations that used variations of the demolition-charge carriers. For those interested in orders of battle, the organisational diagrams provide a vehicle-by-vehicle illustration of the theoretical combat strengths of all of the separate companies and battalions.
